Getting Started

This page will guide you to add Wi-Fi cabability to your platform. The required steps depend on which level of platform support that is currently provided by HD Wireless.

Conceptually, the linux driver could be used on any host platform that supports Linux. Initially testing has been focused on a Linux PC with support for SDIO via the SD card slot. Further platforms will be supported Atmel SAMA5 and Frescale IMX.

Add Wi-Fi support to a custom linux-based platform

If you want to add Wi-Fi support to a custom linux-based platform using a kernel version 3.19 or later, you should perform the following steps:

 1. Get the SPB209A Wi-Fi device, see http://www.hd-wireless.se
 2. Download the Linux kernel 3.19 or later from the appropriate Linux distribution. Details about stable kernel releases can be found under https://www.kerneLorg/pub/
 3. Build and install the Linux kernel according to Linux distribution wiki.
 4. Validate the installation / upgrade with command uname -a displaying the new kernel.
 5. Plug-in the SPB209A to the SDIO interface. The Linux system will recognize the device and load the right drivers/firmware.
 6. The Wi-Fi drivers and firmware comes with the kernel release. Use the Wi-Fi driver according to UseDrivers

Add Wi-Fi support to a supported platform

Currently we support Linux PC with SDIO capable SD slot.

 1. Get the SPB209A EVB kit, see http://www.hd-wireless.se
 2. Make sure that you have a Linux kernel 3.19 or later installed by validating the Linux system with command uname -a. Else follow the procedure above.
 3. Plug-in the SPB209A to the SDIO slot. The Linux system will recognize the device and load the right drivers/firmware.
 4. The Wi-Fi drivers and firmware comes with the kernel release. Use the Wi-Fi driver according to UseDrivers
