Demo images for HDG200

The following demo images can be used to try the HDG200 SDIO-card wifi.

Usage information for the above platforms follows.

Atmel AT91SAM9RL-EK

The demo images are built using Yocto, as described at the Linux4SAM web site. They include U-Boot, Linux kernel and a rootfs.
The HDG200 driver is stored in the rootfs.
The demo image should be stored in the nand flash.

Store demo image in nand flash (from a Linux host)

  1. Unpack
    $ tar -xvzf demo-at91sam9rlek-hdg200-r2.tar.gz
    $ cd demo-at91sama9rlek-hdg200-r2
  2. Connect USB cable between PC and target (J21)
  3. Power off target
  4. Open jumpers J12 and J13
  5. Power on target
  6. Close jumpers J12 and J13
  7. Start sam-ba
  8. Execute sam-ba-nandflash.tcl
  9. Push RESET button to reboot
Use demo image
  1. Connect serial cable between PC and debug port on target
  2. Reboot (i.e. power-off + power-on)
  3. Login (user=root, pw=<EMPTY>)
  4. Insert HDG200 SDIO-card into target (J15)
  5. Connect to a wifi network (Default is to connect to an open wifi network. This can be changed in /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf)
    #ifup wlan0

Atmel AT91SAMA5D3x-EK

Store demo image in nand flash (from a Linux host)

  1. Unpack
    $ tar -xvzf demo-at91sama5d3xek-hdg200-r2.tar.gz
    $ cd demo-at91sama5d3xek-hdg200-r2
  2. Disonnect USB cable between PC and console port on target (J14/JTAG)
  3. Connect USB cable between PC and target (J20/USB-A)
  4. Press PB4/CS_BOOT
  5. Power off + Power on target
  6. Release PB4/CS_BOOT
  7. Start sam-ba
  8. Execute sam-ba-nandflash.tcl
  9. Push PB1/NRST button
Use demo image
  1. Disconnect USB cable between PC and target (J20/USB-A)
  2. Connect USB cable between PC and console port on target (J14/JTAG)
  3. Reboot (i.e. power-off + power-on)
  4. Login (user=root, pw=<EMPTY>)
  5. Insert HDG200 SDIO-card into target (J7/MCI0)
  6. Connect to a wifi network (Default is to connect to an open wifi network. This can be changed in /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf)
    #ifup wlan0

Freescale MCIMX6Q-SDB

The demo image is built using Yocto, as described at the Freescale Community web site. It includes U-Boot, Linux kernel and a rootfs.
The HDG200 driver is stored in the rootfs.
The demo image should be stored on a SD-card.

Store demo image on a SD-card (from a Linux host)

  1. Unpack
    $ tar -xvzf demo-imx6qsabresd-hdg200-r2.tar.gz
    $ cd demo-imx6qsabresd-hdg200-r2
  2. Insert SD-card into PC
  3. Copy demo image to SD-card (here we assume the SD-card is found at /dev/sdb)
    $ umount /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdb2
    $ sudo dd if=core-image-hdg200-imx6qsabresd.sdcard of=/dev/sdb
  4. Remove SD-card from PC
Use demo image
  1. Insert SD-card with demo image into target (MCIMX6Q-SDB: J507/SD3)
  2. Connect a USB cable and start a terminal program (e.g. minicom). 115200 bps.
  3. Reboot (i.e. power-off + power-on)
  4. Login (user=root, pw=<EMPTY>)
  5. Insert HDG200 SDIO-card into target (MCIMX6Q-SDB: J500/SD2)
  6. Connect to a wifi network (Default is to connect to an open wifi network. This can be changed in /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf)
    #ifup wlan0
